Things that I’m just loving, and other stuff.

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006
  • Moola.com - This adfunded web game that is giving my wife something to do online, plus it makes us money (I figure if she earns 22 cents a day on it, I can buy a MacBook in about a year and a half).
  • The OLPC set on Flickr - Pictures of the One Laptop Per Child prototype that MIT created that will increase learning throught third world countries.
  • Skype - Using it peer to peer is rad, and calling any landline in North America for free is a handy bonus.
  • Seth Werkheiser - Not in a gay way, but in a proud way that things are working out. Indie music blogs may pay off just yet.
  • The 1Up Yours Podcast - Best theme (next to diggnation’s), great hosts and a fair amount of well placed obsenities make it a entertaining listen. NOTE: Embraced Blogs does not consent or condone the use of foul language as a tool to express emotion, though it does make things interesting.
  • The Chevy HHR - It’s my new work vehicle, and its pretty sweet, other then having to crank the volume to make my iPod sound decent. Good design otherwise.
  • Silverorange - Cause they rock. Did the redesign on Digg and also for Mozilla.

It must be hard to um…not be Apple.

From digg.com

Yes. It is really very, very free. There’s no prepayment, no minimum use, no subscription, no monthly fee, no nothing. You just download and install Skype and then you start calling. Both the caller and the number called must be in either the US or Canada. There are no strings attached.

Weekend craziness.

Monday, May 15th, 2006

What a busy weekend. Alicia’s Mothers Day present (An engraved iPod Shuffle) showed up on friday by the skin of it’s teeth. She cried upon hearing the track of our kids wishing her Happy Mother’s Day. Mission Accomplished.

The rest of the weekend was a frustrating blur as I tried to install a new Microwave/Range Hood that wanted nothing to do with it’s new cabinet home. After a few hours of snapping at my family, I gave up and we visted all the folks. Apologies again to my lovely wife for taking out my installation woes on you.

Live from a Mac

Monday, May 1st, 2006

Tonight’s entry is coming to you from inside the soft aqua glow of a new MacBook Pro. No, I didn’t get one….yet, but my loving mother let me borrow hers for the evening (my guess is so I fiddle with it and find all the stuff she’ll need come tomorrows workday).

I must say I absolutely love it, and am sure to become a bigger Apple fanboy.

Anyway, me and Jeff have embarked on something that has been occupying my mind for the last few days. We’re poised to launch our very own Web App this month and I hope it’s the first of many. Heck, we may even turn a small profit from it, though thats not the reason behind creating it. I’ll be sure to let all 5 of you know as soon as it launches.
